Composition:
Loperamide hydrochloride 2 mg

Uses/Indication
Symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea (including traveler’s diarrhea)

Management of chronic diarrhea associated with inflammatory bowel disease (e.g., Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis)

Reducing the volume of discharge in patients with ileostomies

Directions for Use:

Adults and Children ≥12 years

Initial dose: 4 mg (usually 2 tablets of 2 mg each) after the first loose stool.

Then: 2 mg (1 tablet) after each subsequent loose stool.

Maximum dose: 8 mg/day (OTC) or 16 mg/day if prescribed by a doctor.

Children 6–11 years

2 mg after each loose stool.

Maximum: 6 mg per day (depending on age/weight).

Side Effects:
Common:

Constipation

Abdominal cramps

Dizziness

Nausea

Less Common:

Dry mouth

Fatigue

Flatulence

Warnings/Cautions

Do not use in children under 6 years unless directed by a doctor

Avoid use in cases of bloody diarrhea, high fever, or suspected bacterial infection causing diarrhea

Discontinue use if symptoms persist beyond 48 hours

Use with caution in patients with liver disease
