Composition

Each 10mg tablet contains 10mg Rosuvastatin (as rosuvastatin calcium)

Uses/Indications

Rosuvastatin belongs to a category of lipid (fat) regulating medicines known as statins, it is used to lower lipids known as cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. It serevs as an adjunct to diet when response to diet and other non-phamacological treatments are inadequate. 

Rosuvastatin prevents major cardiovascular events in estimated high risk patients.

Dosage

The recommended starting dose of Rosuvastatin is 10mg once daily in adults and children aged 6 years and above. Tablet should be swallowed whole with a drink of water, with or without food. Consult a Physician or Pharmacist before use

Side Effects

Common: Sinusitis, allergic reations, increase in blood glucose levels, headaches, muscle pain, nausea, constipation.

Severe(Uncommon) : Rhabdomyolysis,Visual disturbances, cholestasis, hearing loss, kidney problems, myasthenia gravis. 

Warnings/Drug Interactions 

Kidney and liver function: Monitor liver enzymes and kidney function before and during treatment

Muscle toxicity: Risk of myopathy or rhabdomyolysis—report unexplained muscle pain or weakness

Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding – contraindicated

Grapefruit juice – may increase blood levels of atorvastatin (limit or avoid)

Certain antibiotics/antifungals (e.g., erythromycin, itraconazole) – increase risk of muscle toxicity

Cyclosporine, other lipid-lowering agents, antacids, warfarin – may require monitoring or dosage adjustment

Caution in patients with alcoholism, liver disease, or renal impairment
