Composition
Feroglobin capsules are haematinic (blood-building) supplements containing iron and essential vitamins/minerals:
- Iron (as ferrous fumarate) – ~17 mg
- Folic Acid (Vitamin B9) – ~400–500 µg
- Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) – ~10 µg
- Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) – ~5 mg
- Zinc – ~12 mg
- Copper – ~1000 µg
Uses / Indications
Feroglobin capsules are used for:
- Iron deficiency anaemia
- Prevention/treatment of nutritional deficiencies
- Pregnancy and lactation support (increased iron needs)
- Fatigue and weakness due to low haemoglobin
Direction of Use (Dosage & Administration)
- Adults:
- Take with or after a main meal
- Swallow whole with water
- Do not chew or crush
- Take on a full stomach to reduce irritation
- Follow doctor’s advice in special cases (e.g., pregnancy)
Side Effects
Feroglobin is generally well tolerated, but may cause:
Common:
- Nausea
- Constipation
- Diarrhoea
- Stomach upset
- Vomiting
- Heartburn
Other possible effects:
- Dark/black stools (normal with iron)
- Loss of appetite
- Headache
- Metallic taste
Rare but serious:
- Allergic reactions (rash, swelling)
Warnings / Interactions / Cautions
Warnings
- Do not exceed recommended dose (risk of iron toxicity)
- Keep out of reach of children (iron overdose can be dangerous)
- Not a substitute for a balanced diet
Cautions
Use with medical advice if:
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- History of haemochromatosis (iron overload)
- Epilepsy or chronic illness
- Allergic to any ingredient
Drug & Food Interactions
Feroglobin may interact with:
- Antibiotics → reduced absorption
- Thyroid medications → reduced effectiveness
- Calcium/dairy products → reduce iron absorption
- Antacids → reduce absorption
- Vitamin C → enhances iron absorption
