Composition
- Omeprazole – 20 mg per capsule
- Excipients: lactose, starch, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, capsule shell materials

Uses / Indications
Omezole is used for:
- Gastric and duodenal ulcers
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- Erosive esophagitis
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (acid hypersecretion)
- Prevention of NSAID-induced gastric ulcers
Mechanism:
- Omeprazole irreversibly inhibits the H⁺/K⁺ ATPase pump in gastric parietal cells, reducing gastric acid secretion.
Direction for Use
- Adults: 20 mg once daily, usually before breakfast, or as directed by a physician
- Children: Dose adjusted by a doctor based on age/weight
- Swallow capsules whole, do not crush or chew
Side Effects
Common side effects:
- Headache
- Nausea, vomiting
- Stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation
- Flatulence
Rare but serious side effects:
- Severe allergic reaction
- Liver enzyme abnormalities
- Vitamin B12 deficiency with long-term use
- Hypomagnesemia with prolonged therapy
Warnings / Interactions / Cautions
- Take before meals for best effect
- Avoid abrupt discontinuation if on long-term therapy
- Use cautiously in patients with:
- Severe liver disease
- Osteoporosis risk (long-term use)
- Low magnesium or calcium levels
- May interact with drugs like clopidogrel, warfarin, phenytoin, diazepam, and certain antifungals
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: use only if clearly needed
