Composition:
Promethazine Hydrochloride 5mg/5ml

Uses/Indication:

• Relief of allergic conditions such as hay fever, urticaria, and allergic conjunctivitis

• Management of nausea and vomiting (including motion sickness)

• Sedation in pre- and post-operative settings

• Adjunct in the management of anaphylaxis

• Relief of symptoms of the common cold

Direction of Use:

• Children 2–5 years: 2.5–5ml (½ to 1 teaspoon) every 4–6 hours as needed

• Children 6–12 years: 5–10ml (1 to 2 teaspoons) every 4–6 hours as needed

• Adults and children over 12 years: 10–25ml (2 to 5 teaspoons) every 4–6 hours

• Should be measured with a proper dosing device

• Do not exceed recommended dosage or use for more than 7 consecutive days unless advised by a healthcare provider

Side Effects:

• Drowsiness or sedation

• Dizziness

• Dry mouth or throat

• Nausea or constipation

• Rare: confusion, hallucinations (especially in children), or extrapyramidal symptoms

Warnings/Interactions/Caution:

• Warnings: Not for use in children under 2 years due to risk of severe respiratory depression

• Caution in patients with liver disease, epilepsy, glaucoma, or urinary retention

• Interactions: Enhanced effects with alcohol, sedatives, hypnotics, and other CNS depressants

• Caution: May impair alertness—avoid driving or operating heavy machinery. Store out of reach of children and in a cool, dry place.
