Product Composition

Each tablet contains Candesartan Cilexetil 16 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg as the active ingredients.

Uses / Indications

Atacand Plus 16/12.5 is used for:

• Treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension)
• Help reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke by controlling blood pressure
• Patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with candesartan alone

It works through a combination of:

• Candesartan – an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels
• Hydrochlorothiazide – a diuretic (“water pill”) that helps remove excess salt and water from the body.

Direction for Use

• Take one tablet once daily, or as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
• It may be taken with or without food.
• Try to take the medicine at the same time each day to maintain consistent blood pressure control.

Side Effects

Common side effects

• Dizziness
• Headache
• Low blood pressure
• Increased urination
• Fatigue

Less common but serious side effects

• Severe dehydration
• Electrolyte imbalance (low potassium or sodium)
• Kidney problems
• Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)

Drug interactions
This medicine may interact with:

• Other blood pressure medicines
• Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics
• Lithium
• NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or diclofenac

Medical conditions
