Composition:
Spironolactone 50mg

Uses / Indication:

• Treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, or nephrotic syndrome

• Management of hypertension (as adjunct therapy)

• Treatment of primary hyperaldosteronism

• Management of hypokalemia (low potassium levels)

• Used in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), acne, and hirsutism in certain cases

Direction of Use:

• Dosage varies based on indication; typically 25–100mg daily, in divided doses or as a single dose

• Take with food to improve absorption and reduce gastrointestinal discomfort

• Follow physician’s instructions strictly

Side Effects:

• Hyperkalemia (high potassium levels)

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Gastrointestinal upset (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)

• Breast tenderness or enlargement (gynecomastia)

• Menstrual irregularities

• Fatigue or rash

Warnings/Interactions:

• Warnings: Contraindicated in patients with Addison’s disease, anuria, or severe renal impairment

• Interactions: May interact with ACE inhibitors, ARBs, potassium supplements, NSAIDs, and digoxin

• Caution: Regular monitoring of electrolytes and renal function is essential. Use with caution in the elderly and in patients at risk of hyperkalemia.
