Product Composition

Each tablets contains 10mg of Amlodipine( as amlodipine besylate), 160mg of Valsartan and 12.5mg of Hydrochlorothiazide

 

Uses/Indications

Exforge HCT is used for:

  • Treatment of essential hypertension in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with two or more of the individual components (amlodipine, valsartan, or HCTZ)

  • Helps reduce cardiovascular risk (e.g., heart attack, stroke) by effectively lowering high blood pressure

 

Dosage

Adults:

  • Typical dose: 1 tablet (10/160/12.5 mg) once daily

  • Can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day

  • Dosage may be adjusted depending on prior therapy and blood pressure response. Consult a Physician or talk to a pharmacist

 

Side Effects

Common:

  • Dizziness or light-headedness

  • Swelling of ankles or feet (amlodipine-related)

  • Headache

  • Fatigue

  • Increased urination (due to HCTZ)

Serious (seek medical attention):

 

  • Severe hypotension

  • Electrolyte imbalances (low sodium, potassium, or magnesium)

  • Kidney dysfunction

  • Allergic reactions: rash, itching, facial swelling, breathing difficulty

  • Rare: muscle pain, dark urine (rhabdomyolysis risk with valsartan)

 

Warnings/Drug Interactions 

Pregnancy: Contraindicated—may cause fetal harm; discontinue immediately if pregnancy is detected

Kidney/liver impairment: monitor renal function regularly

Volume-depleted patients: Risk of hypotension—correct fluid/salt imbalance before starting

Monitor electrolytes: Risk of hypokalemia (from HCTZ) or hyperkalemia (from valsartan)

Avoid excessive sunlight due to risk of photosensitivity (HCTZ-related)
